Continuing Medical Education

Aided by RPAP funding, the Continuing Medical Education/Continuous Professional Learning offices at both Alberta universities, work with rural physicians to provide high quality CME/CPL to meet the needs of rural Alberta. Programming at the two universities differ in content. However, each university provides regional conferencing and teleconferencing sessions on a regular basis.

Details on each university's' CME/CPL programming may be obtained from University of Alberta CPL and the University of Calgary CME offices.

MDcme.ca

The RPAP partnered with Memorial University, University of Calgary, University of Alberta and others to offer a national web portal, MDcme.ca, formerly RuralMDcme.ca. The aim of MDcme.ca is to provide greater access to distributed programming for the professional development needs of Canada's physicians. MDcme.ca

FP-Anaesthesia Course

In 2001-2002, the RPAP funded the development of a new FP-Anaesthesia program: Crisis Management in the Simulator. The funding was provided in response to a grant application from the Anaesthesia Committee of the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC) to develop a new national CME program designed by and for Family Physician Anaesthetists. The RPAP provided this funding in recognition of the critical role FP-Anaesthesia plays in rural medicine, both in Alberta and throughout most of Canada. For more information on this course, a course brochure and registration form, go to Crisis Management in the Simulator.
