Alberta Health Services and the Alberta Rural Physician Action Plan are collaborating on the delivery of rural maternity care plan.

As a contracted employee working for RPAP, you will be reporting to the Senior Program Officer, Central Zone South, Alberta Health Services, with informational reporting to the RPAP Executive Director.

The Senior Project Manager; Rural Maternity Plan Implementation is a professional position that works with a high degree of independence to provide project leadership, advanced project management expertise and support, and consultative services. This position will ensure the high priority clinically-oriented project of Rural Maternity Plan Implementation is implemented, rolled out and evaluated in Alberta Health Services’ Central Zone and the project is delivered according to scope and quality specifications, on schedule, and within budget.

The Senior PM provides direct support and consultative services to clients, customers and project teams on all aspects of managing provincial and zone-based projects aimed at improving patient outcomes and the efficiency and effectiveness of health care and health services in Alberta. Although this is currently a zone position created to support implementation of the Rural Maternity Plan in the Central Zone; the methodologies and strategies developed will lead and support provincial implementation and knowledge translation of project implementation strategies provincially for the Rural Maternity Plan. As a result, the Senior PM will need to collaborate with others to coordinate the engagement of various stakeholders including clinical staff, physician leaders, senior management, RPAP leadership and executive leaders to ensure that health services projects are developed in consideration of and in collaboration with the end users both locally and provincially.

The Senior PM supports multidisciplinary groups to reach consensus on project priorities, and ensures that projects are effectively scoped and progressively designed in alignment with intended results, and in alignment with the AHS and RPAP’s values, vision, mission and business plan. The Senior PM applies project management methodology and advanced skills and expertise in project management to guide the work efforts required to plan, develop, implement and complete these large and complex projects. This position identifies and develops solutions for complex zone project implementation planning that addresses clinical process and access issues and have a broad operational and financial impact on AHS.

This position liaises with all levels of strategic and operational decision makers in the organization to advance new approaches to clinical care delivery and lead change initiatives to improve system/business performance through project leadership. There is also responsibility for developing and maintaining professional relationships with key external stakeholders and government leaders as appropriate to ensure successful involvement in transformational system change related to the Rural Maternity Plan and Implementation.

The position establishes and maintains positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Alberta Health, as well as other external organizations such as the Alberta Medical Association and the College and Association of registered Nurses of Alberta.

The position many be called upon to represent the Zone and the Provincial Rural Maternity Steering Committee in provincial discussions that lead to informing policy and provincial direction on related strategic priorities as well as identification and assessment of risk to the organization and care delivery that is associated with project implementation, as well as quarterly, written updates to the RPAP Board Chairperson.

This position is directly responsible and accountable for rural planning and provincial and local project implementation and development of clinical frameworks and operational strategies to support the vision, mission and business plan of AHS; funded by RPAP. Comprehensive strategies and methodologies developed for project implementation and guidance set by this position are integrated across provincial/zone operational areas and Strategic Clinical Networks and have broad and direct impact on service delivery across the care continuum.

Annual compensation is $87,000 - $112,000 + benefits.
