Rural physicians work in medical clinics and hospitals examining patients, diagnosing illnesses and treating people who suffer from injuries or disease.

Rural physicians may choose to be family practitioners or to specialize in an area such as anesthesia, internal medicine, obstetrics or surgery.

The work is both demanding and rewarding. Doctors are self-employed and that offers lots of flexibility. You will have a lot of responsibility but you can make a huge difference in the community.
