Since 1992, the Alberta Rural Physician Action Plan (RPAP) has supported Alberta’s rural and remote communities, providing an evolving variety of strategies supporting the successful attraction and retention of physicians, within a constantly changing healthcare environment.
The provincial government is eager to see RPAP continue to evolve its mandate to meet the broad health workforce requirements of diverse rural, remote, and indigenous communities. As RPAP enters this new chapter in its history, it will require a strategic redesign to ensure that appropriate governance, leadership, and operating structures are in place to move forward and grow the organization accordingly. As such, it is seeking a dynamic Executive Director who will be instrumental in providing leadership to meet these new challenges and deliver on the opportunities.
Reporting to a six member Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will be responsible for the overall leadership of RPAP. The focus of this role will be to provide strategic oversight of all aspects of the organization, which includes ensuring resources are properly managed and that RPAP hires and retains the best staff to achieve organizational goals. This position will provide support to the Board of Directors and Board Committees and ensures employee excellence and engagement. The Executive Director will be responsible for the development and execution of a new strategic plan.
