Dr Hugh Hindle

Acccording to Dr. Hugh Hindle, patients across Alberta may be resting a little easier, thanks to the loss of an old friend.

In "Farewell, old friend", Dr. Hindle takes time to remember the departed spine board, and discusses what AHS changes to spinal immobilization rules mean for these "unforgiving planks" in Alberta. Dr. Hindle also provides links to information on on why backboards "don’t help and may harm".

To read "Farewell, old friend", and more of Dr. Hindle's musings on the PDQ Blog, visit Practical Doc.ca.

Practical Doc was formed in response to the ongoing need to provide practicing rural physicians with a place where they can access online skills, resources, and support. More than a clearinghouse for content, Practical Doc merges the needs of a physician who may be looking for information with the support that can be sometimes hard to find when working in a rural community.

Offering teaching and technological resopurces, as well as an online Virtual Library for rural physicians, PracticalDoc.ca is funded by RPAP | Health Workforce for Alberta.
